Nothing shows a cheerful, welcoming home more than cleanliness. Clear any stagnant energy by giving your living space a good scrub, repairing or replacing broken objects, and decluttering unused items.

As our kitchens and dining areas are convivial spaces for our families to get together, it’s also essential to maintain cleanliness in these areas. Ensure countertops and cookware are squeaky clean, plus repair any leaky faucets to prevent your good fortune from washing away.

You can also explore smudging sage to purify your space. These steps help make room for fresh, vibrant chi, as our kalat may hinder energy flow.

Aside from doing spring cleaning, it’s also good practice to keep your space open by ensuring your furniture doesn’t obstruct paths or doorways and has a well-flowing layout.

Natural light is also a significant factor in Feng Shui, as good lighting in your home not only keeps your space looking wider and maaliwalas but attracts positive energy at the same time. As much as possible, allow light to filter in through light curtains.

On a similar note, opening your windows to allow fresh air to circulate into your home is another excellent way to restore the chi within your space.

Meanwhile, decorative mirrors, aside from being great pieces to enlarge spaces, can also reflect positive energy. You can place them strategically to amplify chi and bring more light to dimly lit areas.

As 2024 is the Year of the Wood Dragon, incorporating certain aspects such as the lucky colors as predicted by the Chinese zodiac and elements boosting the dragon’s influence can help invite the majestic creature’s renewing energy. For example, you can infuse your home with more wooden furniture, green hues, and red accents. You may also add dragon-themed figurines and artwork to amplify the Wood Dragon’s power.

Promote Good Energy

We can also boost our positive energy by enhancing specific spaces. For example, we can invite more wealth into our lives by creating an area for prosperity. Following the Feng Shui bagua map, you can enhance the prosperity area of the home (typically in the southeast corner) with objects or symbols associated with abundance, such as money plants, wealth ships, or a three-legged toad.

If you have specific benefits in mind, you can also place crystals in your rooms where you need them most. Amethyst, for example, can help promote tranquility and spiritual growth while deflecting negative energy. You can place these crystals in the central areas of your space. On the other hand, rose quartz is a crystal known best for its healing and romantic properties, which would be a great addition to bedrooms. For wealth, you can place citrine in your prosperity area. The list goes on!

Another way to promote positive energy is by hanging up wind chimes. The home's entrance is a typical place to hang a wind chime, as it’s where energy enters. You can also place it in other outdoor areas to redirect any negative energy or in specific rooms in your house following the bagua mapping of your space.

Certain plants, such as lucky bamboo, are considered lucky in Feng Shui. Aside from bringing a breezy lightness to the home, these plants can also bring a sense of growth and vitality. Fresh flowers, especially those in vibrant colors such as red or yellow, can also uplift energy.

Generally, plants with softer and rounder leaves (especially if they’re heart-shaped!) can bring more ease and flow into your life. However, spiky plants may not promote positive chi as their sharp points may drain your energy.
